ODESSA, UKRAINE: 04 AUGUST 2006. Street children of Ukraine. 16 year old Andrey who lives alone in an underground access chamber to the central heating pipes in Pioneer Park, Odessa. His daily routine involves buzzing glue and begging at one of Odessa’s markets until he has enough money, 3 Hryvna’s which is about 80p, to buy Effidrine from a chemist. He mixes the Effidrine tablets with water and draws off a yellow liquid which he injects. One packet will give him approximately 4-8 injections. (Photo by David Gillanders)
