busy bee

Lovely morning at the studio today to make a portrait of Paul Vallot – biology teacher by day and bee keeper extraordinaire at other times. We met a few weeks ago in chef Andrew Fairlie’s secret, and somewhat magical, garden.

Watching fascinated as Paul tended his bees I walked a little closer to shout if it would be OK to make a few photos. The walking closer was a big mistake as I ended up in a cloud of bees – but only one sting for my troubles. (always been lucky)

Anyway, Paul kindly popped in today and I made a collodion portrait of him that I really like.

I also took a wee step back and am really liking the how the collodion portrait collection is coming along. Hopefully get some scanning done soon and get a wee web gallery done – coz nobody’s getting prints 🙂

A few phone snaps of plates that are on the racks in the studio:-

And some family baby plates 🙂
