guitars don’t blink!

Fantastic day at the studio yesterday. Lots of coffee and wet collodion adventures with incredibly talented people.

I’m working on a wee project with luthier Ricky Claffey who popped in with one of his hand made guitars and I made a couple of images onto black aluminium that I really love. Please check out Ricky’s work – I am in awe of his craft and skill to make such beautiful guitars from raw materials. Incredible!

At long last I also managed to get chef Andrew Fairlie in for a portrait. What a man – not only a world renowned chef, but a magician! The naughty chef secretly made my dartboard produce bank notes and we’ll be having words next time 🙂

At the start of the week I also had a visit from a postgrad student Herwig Scherabon. He was cool!

      Hi Archie,

Thanks for that – all good here, hope you are all doing well too! 🙂

The process produces a negative which is seen as a positive on the polished black background of the glass or metal. If you make them onto clear glass you can print through them onto photographic paper. I’ve not done much of that – I’m totally in love with making them as one offs. Come in and get a wee portrait done – it’s a cool thing to see. I’m in most thursdays and fridays if you’re ever passing….

      Cheers
